Mexico is a country between the U.S. and Central America that’s known for its Pacific and Gulf of Mexico beaches and its diverse landscape of mountains, deserts and jungles. Ancient ruins such as Teotihuacán and the Mayan city of Chichén Itzá are scattered throughout the country, as are Spanish colonial-era towns. In capital Mexico City, upscale shops, renowned museums and gourmet restaurants cater to modern life. Transfer airport – hotel (shared service) Including English and/or Spanish speaking assistance. Overnight Stay at Hotel Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton on a Bed & Breakfast Basis Departure to Puebla, “the City of Angels”, visiting Santa Maria Tonantzintla, temple gorgeously decorated by indigenous hands. On our arrival to Puebla visit of the Rosario’s Chapel, the Cathedral, the Main Square and the Historical Downtown. Lunch included. Continue to Oaxaca. Arrival and overnight at Hotel Misión de los Angeles (4 star) or similar. Breakfast included. During the morning visit to Monte Alban, a great archaeological site built on a mountain top flattened by the Zapotecs where we will find different culture manifestations such as Olmecs, Mixtecs and Zapotecs. The main square, the observatory, Tomb # 7, the stones of the dancers are only some of the highlights of the site. Later, we will continue to Mitla, one of the most enigmatic sacred places. The village had a great importance as a burial site and the buildings are decorated with symbolic mosaics. En route we will literally meet the Tule tree, perhaps one of the biggest living beings in the world. Return to Oaxaca and visit of this beautiful city, including the Cathedral, the magnificent Santo Domingo church and the Regional Museum. Dinner included. Overnight at Hotel Misión de los Angeles (4 star) or similar. Simple breakfast on route included. We will departure at early morning to Tuxtla Gutierrez, the capital city of the State of Chiapas. You will enjoy the landscapes of the southern mountains. We will have a boat ride in the Sumidero Canyon, with 1,000 meters (3,300 feet) at its highest point. We continue to San Cristobal de Las Casas. Dinner included. Overnight at Hotel Casa Vieja (4 star) or similar. Breakfast included. We will drive approximately 10km into the Chiapas highlands, to the Tzotzil Indian villages of San Juan Chamula and Zinacantan. The Tzotzils descend from the ancient Maya and maintain some unique customs, costumes and beliefs. We will visit the beautiful white church in San Juan Chamula. The candles, incense and chanting worshippers make a powerful impression. We then drive to the nearby village of Zinacantan, with its pretty church and handicraft market. Return to San Cristobal. Afternoon at leisure to visit on your own the colonial city center of San Cristobal de las Casas. We will return to San Cristobal de las Casas. Dinner included. Overnight at Hotel Casa Vieja (4 star) or similar. Breakfast included. We will drive to Agua Azul waterfalls to admire their turquoise colored waters. Afterwards we will continue to Palenque. Dinner included and overnight at Hotel Chan-Kah (4 star) or similar. Breakfast included. Visit the archaeological site of Palenque, surrounded by the jungle, one of the prime and most important sites of the “Mayan World”. Inside the Pyramid of the Inscriptions, King Pakal’s sarcophagus and its fascinating carved gravestone were found. We will admire the Sun Temple, the Cross Temple & the Palace. Ahead we will find a nice panoramic of the Gulf of Mexico. Lunch included. We will continue to the beautiful walled city of Campeche. Panoramic view through the city. Dinner included. Overnight at Hotel Del Mar (4 star) or similar. Breakfast included. Departure to Uxmal, “the three times built”, to know the Guesser Pyramid, the Quadrangle of the Nuns, Governor’s Palace & the ballgame court. Lunch included. Arrival to Merida, “the white city” to enjoy a panoramic view: Montejo Avenue, the monument to Motherland, the Main Square, the Cathedral & Government Palace. Overnight at Hotel El Castellano (4 star) or similar. Breakfast included. Departure to Chichén Itzá, the most important and awesome Mayan site in Mexico. Declared World Heritage by UNESCO and one of the new 7 Wonders of the World. We will find advanced archaeo-astronomic knowledge in this city. We will visit the pyramid known as the “The Castle” or temple of Kukulcan, the largest ballgame court of the Mesoamerica, the skulls temple, the Jaguar’s temple, and the observatory. We continue to the beautiful Cenote (sinkhole) of Ik-kil, where we will be able to swim in it. Lunch included. Continue to Cancun.
